LavynderCalc is a simple program that automates one of the more mundane tasks encountered in genealogical research: Calculating birthdates, death dates and age at death. It is designed to be easy to install, easily run, and easy to use.
LavynderCalc is free. If you find it of value, please pass it along to your friends. If you have any comments, you may send them via email to LavynderCalc@greyface.com
LavynderCalc
can be downloaded and installed on your computer using a very simple, web-based
process. To begin, click on the following link:
Click here to download the LavynderCalc Setup Program
You will see a prompt similar to that shown at the right. Save the file to disk, and make sure to remember where you save it. You will need to run it after the download is complete. The file is small (about 150K) so it should transfer quickly.
When
it is done, run the downloaded program (after you virus
scan it .. you DO virus scan everything .. don't you?). You can
run it easily just by double-clicking on the file in the folder list.
If you get a prompt like that shown to the left, you can run the program just by clicking on the Open button, or you can easily open the download folder by clicking on the Open Folder button. Either way, make sure you run the program to begin the installation.
Once you have started the installation program, make sure you follow all on-screen instructions. Of utmost importance is the need to close ALL other programs first. Sometimes when a program needs to install a component, an older version of that component might already be in use on your computer. If this is the case, you will need to reboot your computer or ... worse yet ... might even have future problems because it did not install correctly. This is a good rule to follow for ALL installations. The less you have running during an installation, the better.
Once
LavynderCalc is installed, you will find a new icon for it on your desktop. You
may start the program just by double-clicking on the icon, or you may start it
by clicking on Start->Programs->Lavynder->LavynderCalc. Either method
will start the program immediately.
Further help with using LavynderCalc can be found on the LavynderCalc Help Page.
